"THE PRO GAME" Hockey Marathon - February 13-14, 2014





The marathon games celebrates hockey, and the local community with mostly rec-league hockey players giving their all on and off the ice to compete for 24 hours straight in a traditional game. The players also work very hard off-ice with fundraising efforts in order to make our event a huge success.

In 2015 their goal will to be to raise much needed funds for the following charities:


These marathon hockey games have in the past donated to the following charities: 

  • Canadian Cancer Society $36,000

  •  Kidsport $30,000

  • Heart & Stroke $29,400

  • Dartmouth Boys & Girls Club $31,000

  • Alzheimer Society $11,300

  • Windsor Trust Fund for under privileged children $15,000

  • Hockey Canada Program ensuring all children can play hockey $22,500

    Feed Nova Scotia $7,500 plus a food donation


The Facts

The players have a great history with marathon games and have played three games under the name “The Looong Game” as well as our most recent game in 2014 called the Pro Game, and have accomplished the following:

Their game and story is to be followed and showcased by CBC Hockey Day In Canada 2015

Original Looong Game was featured on CBC Hockey Day In Canada in 2002

All levels of government have been represented at our games: Premiers, Mayors, MLAs and Ministers

Former Department of National Defence and current National Justice Minister Peter MacKay played in 2010 and 2014

Had 2007 Stanley Cup Champion and Cole Harbour fan favourite Joe DiPenta play in 2014

Welcomed celebrity coaches Ron MacLean and Don Cherry on our benches

Set a new Guinness Book World Record for the longest consecutive ice hockey game

Have the biggest one time donation to Kidsport in the amount of $25,000

Have items on display at The Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto, Ontario

Inducted in The Windsor Hockey Heritage Hall of Fame team category

A local school sings O’Canada

Everyone involved is a volunteer — referees, time keepers, security and game announcers for a great festival spirit.
